How to Dye Faded Hats
How to Dye Faded Hats
Anyone that has a favorite hat knows all too well how they can fade over the years. In fact, in warmer climates, your hat doesn't even have to be that old before it shows signs of wear. Everything from sweat stains to sunshine can fade a favorite hat. If you’re old, or not so old, hat has begun to fade from the elements and long-time wear, you might be wondering how to re-dye a hat. It's entirely possible to make an old hat look like new, and in this article, we'll explain how you can re-dye hats! Successfully Dying a Faded Hat You can absolutely re-dye your old or stained baseball cap. It's a relatively straightforward process, and even those new to crafting can do it without a problem. First, you'll want to gather your materials. These include fabric dye, a craft knife, painters' or duct tape, and an old newspaper or t-shirt to cover your work surface. Wash Your Hat You'll want to start by washing your hat. You can do this in the washing machine on a gentle cycle, but be sure to let it air dry. You can also put your dirty hat in the dishwasher and wash it that way. Cleaning your hat will be sure to remove any dirt and grime before you dye the faded hat.  Cover Up Logos When your hat is completely dry, you'll want to use your tape and craft knife to cover up the parts of the hat you don't want to dye. In most cases, this means the logo. Place the tape over the logo and gently cut away at the tape. You'll want to be incredibly careful here, as the craft knife can easily poke through the fabric. Take your time and don't rush this step of dyeing faded hats.  Set Up Your Workspace Find a well-ventilated place to cover your hat in fabric dye. Set up your workspace, which should be a hard surface (such as a work table or patio), and place your t-shirt or newspaper down. Put the hat on top of it.  Spraying Your Hat Following the directions on the bottle of fabric spray, you'll begin to apply the dye to your hat. You might want to do a spot test first to ensure the paint matches the material of your hat. When you've finished, let the hat dry entirely before placing it on your head.  Poleberg Knows the Meaning of Hats Many people think that a hat is just a hat, but at Poleberg, we know how special a hat can be. How Sports Influence Fashion
How Sports Influence Fashion
The world of sports and fashion are undeniably intertwined, and we have the presence of athleisure lines and collections within every major clothing retailer across the globe as proof. At first glance, it would seem that sports and fashion are two worlds that should not easily combine, but, in reality, this could not be further from the truth. Sports have always influenced fashion trends, dating back to the 1800s when the baseball cap made its way into the limelight. Invented to shield the eyes of ballplayers from the sun, there's no denying that now, baseball caps are more prevalent in our society than they've ever been before.  The Connection Between Sports and Fashion Fashion and sports have more in common than you might think, primarily when it comes to comfort and functionality. Those participating in sports need garments that can move, breathe, and stay in line with the trends for that particular sport. Though fashion wasn't always about comfort, in recent years, the demand for work-from-home attire and fashion influencers have brought comfort to the forefront, inspiring attainable, livable, fashion-forward styles. From here, it's easy to see how sports influence fashion, but let's break it down a bit further.  Fashion Within Sports From ballet and equine to football and soccer, every sport has its own fashion rules and regulations. What you wear on and off the field, stage, or horse is important. Now, it may not matter to those that don't participate but ask any professional athlete, and they'll tell you that fashion and design are significant components of their sport. Coaches and trainers expect their athletes to show up prepared to participate, and dressing correctly is part of those expectations. You'll never see a ballerina trade in a leotard for sweatpants on stage, and that's due to function and fashion expectations within that specific sport. Sports Fashion Influencing Real-Life Somewhere along the way, perhaps dating as far back as that 1800s baseball cap, the fashion industry noticed that taking bits and pieces from sports fashion made a fantastic addition to real-life ensembles. We've seen it in bodysuits, the yoga pant explosion, ballerina flats, tall, equestrian boots, and knee socks.  Sports fashion pieces influence what we wear off the field or court, as combining everyday wear such as jeans with sportswear like a bodysuit or jersey looks casual, fun, and pulled together. However, sports in general also affect our clothing choices more directly through the act of representation.  Representing Your Sport Not only do most people prefer to represent the sport they participate in through wearing official team gear and accessories, but those that don't play that sport like to do the same. Sports teams and apparel companies have created a multi-trillion dollar industry by making official sports gear available to the masses. Over the years, this availability has proven to be a very wise choice. For example, in August of 2021,  Mac Jones's jersey sold out at the Gillette Stadium pro-shop before the New England Patriots rookie even took the field for his first official game.  Fans love to represent their favorite sports, teams, and players. Representation alone has given sports room to create a massive influence on our daily fashion choices. When we wake up in the morning, we get to decide who we want to be that day, which is part of what makes fashion so much fun. When you throw sportswear into the mix, you get to define a part of you that the outside world wouldn't see otherwise. You can represent the sport you participate in, the sport you love, or your favored team. Over the years, baseball caps have become a considerable part of this representation. Baseball Caps and Sports Fashion Baseball caps have become a massive part of the sports fashion puzzle, and the way we work them into any situation or occasion clearly answers whether sports have influenced fashion. When you think about it, we wear baseball caps for events and games that aren't even baseball-related, such as NFL and NHL games. These players do not actively participate in the sport of baseball professionally, yet they're wearing baseball caps pretty much anytime they're not wearing a helmet. Brands, including sports teams, worldwide have taken the baseball cap to another level. Chances are, if you have a favorite team, you can find a hat that represents that team. True to the purpose of fashion, baseball caps allow us to express a piece of ourselves. We get to step out of the house and tell the world that while you might not know much about me, now you know that I'm a Raiders fan, and perhaps we can find common ground there. If anything, hats are a conversation starter. Merging Fashion and Sports Fashionable athletic wear, marketed by major brands such as Nike, Under Armor, and Athleta, have made it possible to merge fashion and sports. However, nothing brings sports and fashion together more than adding a representative cap to your favorite casual outfit.  As offices loosen their grip on business attire and more people work from home or remotely, fashion evolves. We're going from heels and dress shoes to sneakers and ball caps. There has never been a more acceptable or prevalent time than the current moment to combine sports and fashion. The way the world works (literally) is changing, and it's taking the way we style our everyday lives with it Find Your Fashion with Poleberg There's no better place to look than Poleberg to represent your favorite sports teams or to add a fashion-driven hat to your wardrobe. The Top 5 Reasons to Wear a Hat
The Top 5 Reasons to Wear a Hat
There are plenty of reasons to wear a hat, but most are personal. Some people dislike hats, while others view them as a fashion staple. If you think about it, there are probably people in your life that never wear hats and others that you'll never catch without one. No matter which side of the spectrum you fall on, chances are you've had to wear a hat at some point in your life. Whether it's a bad hair day or a spur-of-the-moment decision, you can't avoid wearing a hat forever. If you are already a hat person, then it's likely that you are in complete agreement already regarding the reasons why you should wear a hat. On the other hand, if you're not a hat person, but you'd like to be one, we've got some options for you! Reason 1 to Wear a Hat: Hats are Functional Whether you like them or not, hats are super functional. They're fantastic for keeping the sun off of your face, offering additional protection all year long. Both small and wide-brimmed caps will help shield your face from the sun's rays, though they don't work well in the same settings. For example, the brim of a dad hat would be suitable at a baseball game, while a wide-brimmed hat would work well at the beach. Reason 2 to Wear a Hat: Frame Your Face Hats come in various shapes, and in many cases, can be used to top off an outfit and frame your face. Poleberg offers plenty of baseball hats, fantastic for everyday wear. Poleberg hats typically spend a ton of time on the head of the wearer, created in ultimate comfort, but not all caps have to be baseball hats. For example, bucket hats and sun hats are perfect for accentuating your favorite features, and you can find them at most major retailers. There aren't any specific guidelines regarding wearing a hat unless you're a sports team member. All you have to do is pick which one you like best. You might prefer a wide straw hat or to wear a hat that lets everyone know which NBA team you cheer on.  Like any accessory, hats are personal, and you get to choose which one you like best! That's part of what makes them so much fun to wear. Reason 3 to Wear a Hat: Stand Out from the Crowd Unless you're at a sporting event where almost everyone is wearing a hat and rooting for one team or the other, a hat can help you stand out in a crowd. Meeting up with a group of friends at a festival or street fair is much easier when you can describe your hat to them. Also, if you're at a party where you don't know anyone, your hat can make for an excellent ice-breaker. The best part of meeting new people is finding common ground with them, and accessories like hats can aid in that. Reason 4 to Wear a Hat: Fix a Bad Hair Day Bad hair days happen to everyone. No matter who you are or where you come from, you've probably had a bad hair day or two. Whether you've fallen asleep with wet hair and it doesn't dry correctly, it's been cut too short, or you just haven't had the time to wash it in a couple of days, a hat can help.  Not only does a hat cover your scalp, which is where hair tends to get the oiliest, but depending on which type of hat you choose, it can provide a lot of coverage if you deem it necessary. Bad hair days can be frustrating, but with a fantastic hat, you'll never fall victim again. Reason 5 to Wear a Hat: Give Your Confidence a Boost Hats can make us feel mysterious and pulled together, even if we're neither of those things. Hats are accessories meant to make you feel good, so choosing a hat that gives you confidence is essential. Whether a fishing hat or a perfectly fitted ballcap, you have to feel good in whatever you're wearing. When your clothing and accessories make you feel good, your confidence level goes through the roof. When your confidence goes up, there's not much you can't get done! Plus, hats can successfully accessorize almost any outfit, bringing lots of new life to the clothes you have in your closet.  Looking Good in a Hat Everyone can pull off a successful hat look, and it all comes down to finding a hat that you feel comfortable wearing. There are so many people out there who remain convinced that they can't wear a hat when really, they just haven't found a hat they like. While Poleberg specializes in baseball caps, snapbacks, fitted hats, and dad caps, we understand how essential hats are in a routine accessories rotation. What to Wear with a Dad Hat
What to Wear with a Dad Hat
Wearing a hat is one of the go-to fashion accessories of the year. And the trend is not planning on stopping anytime soon. Everywhere you look, people are rocking dad hats. A dad hat has come a long way from being a casual athleisure staple. The six-panel baseball cap is a timeless accessory that knows no boundaries. You can dress it up or dress it down to suit your style. They feature unstructured front panels and a curved brim that is similar to a traditional baseball cap. Dad hats are made for a laid-back vibe. But don’t be fooled by their relaxed appearance as they make any outfit look polished. If you’re new to dad hats and want to jump on the trend, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know. By the end of this article, you’ll know how to wear a dad cap, what to wear with a dad hat, and some of our favorite dad hat outfits. How to Wear a Dad Cap Okay, so maybe you think your hair is too long, or your bangs will get in the way of wearing a dad cap. Lucky for you, any hairstyle looks great with the cap, and there are plenty of options for how to wear a dad cap. With bangs You might think you can’t wear a dad hat if you have a nice set of bangs. Maybe you’re worried your bangs will stick out, or they will be wonky once you take it off. Try brushing your bangs forward and position the dad hat with the brim angled over your fringe. It should sit at the top of your forehead instead of flat across so that it keeps your bangs intact. Experiment with your hair by parting your bangs to the side or creating a perfectly symmetrical fringe. If your bangs get wonky after you take your dad hat off, carry some hair balm to tame your mane. With long hair If you’ve got long hair, you have a range of hairstyles to play with. You can make a dad hat look casual or chic. Pulling your hair back into a low ponytail is a classic and effortless way to wear a dad hat. You can create a polished yet casual vibe by sweeping your hair into a ponytail and popping a cap on top. A loose bun is another way to create a chic yet casual look with a dad hat. But if you’re looking for something fancier, try plaiting your hair to the side with a fishtail braid. Backwards Wearing a dad hat backward creates a super laid-back look. It works best when you let your hair down as buns and ponytails will get in the way.  Just turn the cap around so the brim is at the nape of your neck. But be sure to wear it in a casual setting as a backward cap in your Sunday best isn’t a look grandma will appreciate. What to Wear with a Dad Cap The beauty of the dad hat is that you can wear it with almost anything. A dad hat from Poleberg can be worn by the pool, lounging at home, socially distanced meet-ups, and with funky patterns or chic blazers. There are plenty of dad hat outfits to suit your style. You can pair one with a blazer to bring your whole outfit together. Style this red Calgary Flames hat with a black blazer and a low bun for a trendy runway look.  Sunday lounging Spend the weekend lounging around in sweats and a California Golden Bears baseball cap. While the PJs will keep you comfy, the dad hat will add a touch of glam to the same old borning tracksuit.
